A Buzzing Lesson in Biodiversity!
Our Irish partners were delighted to welcome Iseult, our local beekeeper, to the school for an exciting lesson on biodiversity! The boys were buzzing with excitement as Iseult shared fascinating facts about bees, their importance to our environment, and how they contribute to keeping nature in balance.

Iseult didn’t stop at bees—she also spoke about the life cycle of butterflies. From tiny eggs to caterpillars, then pupae, and finally, the beautiful butterflies, the boys learned how each stage plays a vital role in the environment. This hands-on session was packed with knowledge, teaching the boys how every insect, no matter how small, contributes to the diversity of life around us.

The highlight? Seeing real honeycombs and learning how we can all help protect pollinators by planting wildflowers and avoiding harmful pesticides. It was a day filled with learning, discovery, and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of nature. Thank you, Iseult, for sharing your passion and knowledge with us!

Growing Ideas & Green Energy!
Our Portuguese partners have been busy with two amazing projects that combine hands-on learning and sustainability. The students recently built a beautiful garden for aromatic herbs and they’ve also been engaging in lively debates about renewable energy.

The herb garden is not only a great way to learn about plant care and the benefits of fresh herbs, but it also teaches students the importance of local, sustainable food sources. Growing their own herbs fosters a deeper connection to nature and encourages healthy habits.

Meanwhile, the renewable energy debates have been sparking critical thinking on the future of our planet. The students explored the pros and cons of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, learning how green energy can reduce pollution and create a more sustainable future.
Together, these activities are helping to cultivate a generation that’s mindful of both the environment and the importance of innovation!

Growing a Greener Tomorrow: Insights from an Organic Farm!
Our Turkish partners recently visited an inspiring organic farm, where students got an up-close look at sustainable agriculture in action. During the visit, they learned about the benefits of organic farming, from healthy soil practices to the importance of avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.

Organic farming plays a key role in protecting biodiversity, promoting soil health, and reducing water pollution. The students saw firsthand how organic methods encourage a balanced ecosystem, where insects, plants, and animals can thrive together. They also discovered how organic farming leads to healthier, more nutritious food—free from harmful chemicals.

This visit not only highlighted the environmental advantages of organic farming but also emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers and choosing sustainable options whenever possible. It was a day full of learning, with lessons that will stick with the students for years to come!

Footprint of Change: Charity and Cleanups for a Greener Tomorrow
Our Irish partners have kicked off the Our Shoes charity shoe collection with a strong environmental focus. By collecting and reusing gently worn shoes, the initiative reduces waste that would otherwise end up in landfills. This not only helps those in need but also promotes sustainable living through recycling. Donating shoes is a simple but impactful way to extend the life of everyday items, reducing the environmental footprint. Learn more about the initiative and how you can contribute at Our Shoes Charity.

As part of their commitment to environmental preservation, our Irish partners also organised a litter-picking event at local sports pitches. This cleanup effort tackled the growing problem of waste in public spaces, helping to prevent pollution and protect local wildlife. By removing harmful litter like plastic, participants are actively contributing to a healthier ecosystem. This initiative highlights the power of small actions in safeguarding our natural environment and preserving green spaces for future generations. Together, we are taking important steps towards a cleaner, more sustainable planet.

Creative Minds Unite for a Greener Tomorrow: 'No Planet B' Logo Competition
We are thrilled to announce the results of our recent logo competition, where students from Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Ireland came together to design the No Planet B logo. This initiative aimed to harness the power of digital technology and creativity in raising awareness about environmental issues, emphasizing that our planet needs urgent protection.

The competition showcased the incredible talent of our students as they utilized digital design tools to craft logos that convey the urgency of environmental action. The importance of logos in environmental awareness cannot be overstated; a well-designed logo serves as a powerful symbol that captures the essence of a cause, making it more relatable and memorable. The No Planet B logo is not just a graphic; it represents our shared commitment to sustainability and the urgent need for collective action.

After careful consideration, a winner was chosen based on creativity, relevance, and impact. This logo will serve as the official symbol for our environmental initiatives, inspiring others to join the movement for a sustainable future. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding contributions, and a special shoutout to the winner! Together, we are fostering a culture of environmental awareness through innovation and creativity.

Inspiring Change with Trócaire!
Our Irish partners recently hosted an enlightening talk from Trócaire, a charity dedicated to fighting global poverty and injustice. The session focused on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a universal call to action aimed at creating a better world by 2030.

Trócaire's representative emphasized the interconnectedness of the SDGs and how they relate to environmental sustainability, social equality, and economic growth. Students learned about the importance of responsible consumption, climate action, and community empowerment in achieving these goals.

The talk inspired thoughtful discussions about the role each individual can play in contributing to sustainable development. By understanding the SDGs, our students are better equipped to take meaningful action in their communities and advocate for a more equitable and sustainable world. Thank you, Trocaire, for inspiring us to strive for a brighter future!
